Lebanon, Oregon, is a community rich in stories, strength, and resilience. For years, I’ve dreamed of a place where these threads could come together—a space where culture, belonging, and opportunity could flourish under one roof. That dream is now within reach: a community-built cultural center, for the community, by the community.
This vision is more than just a building; it’s a reflection of who we are and who we aspire to be. The cultural center will be a place where everyone is welcome, where diversity is celebrated, and where programs like Weaving Fala come to life.
Our community deserves a home for creativity, learning, and connection. A space where children can explore their heritage, families can find support, and individuals can grow together. From cultural art workshops and financial literacy programs to leadership development and bilingual preschool initiatives, the cultural center will serve as a hub for transformation.
Imagine children laughing as they learn to weave traditional mats or create their first lei. Picture parents and grandparents gathering to share their stories while young entrepreneurs map out their futures. This center will weave together the dreams of many, just as our Weaving Fala programs weave together the values of culture, equity, anti-racism, and humanism.
Making this dream a reality takes collaboration. We’re thrilled to announce that Mugs Coffee House, now under new ownership, is partnering with Weaving Fala to turn this vision into action. Together, we’re creating spaces that foster safety, belonging, and shared purpose.
Mugs will serve as more than a coffee house—it will be a gathering spot, a place where people can connect over a cup of coffee and discuss the programs, events, and initiatives that will eventually fill the cultural center. By merging the strengths of Mugs with the mission of Weaving Fala, we’re building the foundation for a future that uplifts everyone in Lebanon.
This project is for our community, but it’s also powered by our community. We’re calling on everyone—residents, local businesses, and friends of Lebanon—to join us. Whether you can offer time, expertise, or resources, your support is vital.
Together, we can:
This is just the beginning. Over the coming months, we’ll share opportunities to get involved—from fundraising events and volunteer days to planning sessions where your ideas can shape the future. Every step we take brings us closer to a cultural center that’s truly “woven by many hands, for all.”
Together, let’s make this dream a reality. Let’s build a cultural center that reflects the heart of Lebanon—a place where everyone feels they belong and where every thread of our community is valued.
Join us in weaving this dream into reality. Follow our journey, share your story, and be part of this monumental step for Lebanon.
With gratitude,
